Why Politics makes my stomach churn

Friday, November 4, 2011

So much is currently transpiring in the political arenas, both on the state and federal level. Recall elections for senators, now a potential recall for the governor at the state level. Uber-saturation of constant GOP debate and rhetoric. And worst of all, Occupy "Something or Someplace" for "Some Reason".

The last thing I am going to attempt is to create yet another arm-chair, ill-informed and pedantic, politically oriented blog. The only thing I am going to do is comment on the complete lack of etiquette and intelligent conversation that dominates the media, but particularly the political activists.

I understand that the very definition of activist already applies the given paradigm of fervor and zeal toward a particular party or set of beliefs and the resultant expression of those beliefs. But I am seriously bothered by how ineffectual, inconsiderate, and on occasion, insane the behavior of those involved, and just how ridiculous the expected outcome is from the actual result.

Without revealing my own political bent, I will merely articulate that one side of the aisle consistently more vociferous than the other. It is almost as though, when logical thought escapes, and calm, rational discussion doesn't offer the types of result that they desire, repetition, name calling and an idea that if you don't get what you want, yell loudly so no one else can hear what the opponent is saying.

The only thing that this behavior makes me thing of, every single time, is a classic old adage - I would rather be silent, and have the world think me a fool, than open my mouth and prove it.
